Call us today to schedule your Non-Emergency Transport! (484) 714-5182. A routine transport is non-emergent transportation of a patient from the hospital, extended care facility or residence, to another location, including doctor’s offices, extended care facilities, and/or residences. East Allen EMS (EATVAC) offers a variety of of routine transports including:
Patients who require Basic Life Support transportation should be relatively stable; not requiring any form of invasive procedures, (i.e. IV infusions, intubation, EKG monitoring, etc.) Capped IV ports are permissible for BLS transportation. Patient self-administered medication pumps are allowed, only if the patient can maintain the device.
A BLS crew will not be responsible for any pump or medication administration should the pump fail.
A BLS Transport crew will consist of a minimum of two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), allowing one EMT to be present with the patient.
IMPORTANT: This transport must be deemed medically necessary by a physician or certain other healthcare professionals prior to the transportation. This can be accomplished with the completion of the Physician’s Medical Necessity Certification (PMNC).
Most insurances will pay for BLS Ambulance transports when the person who wants to use the service meets the following guidelines as certified by the PMNC:
Most insurance companies require pre-certification or pre-approval before medical transportation is provided. If your insurance requires pre-certification or pre-approval, then you, your caregiver, doctor or your case manager must obtain the prior approval before making an appointment. We can also assist you in obtaining the necessary pre-certifications.
While we make every effort to obtain preauthorization's, pre-approvals, or a completed PMNC, there is no guarantee of payment by the insurance company.
